 What's the Arena Like?

Even when the QMJHL's website has gamesheets dating back to the league's beginning available on their website, it's still possible to be surprised now and then. Nik Coulter, a Twitter follower and correspondent, messaged me early in 2023 that a Hull old-timer told him in passing that the Hull Festivals, the team that is today's Olympiques, played a random regular-season game in Gloucester, ON in the 1970's. Further research by Nik narrowed it down to a game against Laval on Nov. 24, 1974, in the midst of a six-week municipal strike on the Quebec side of the river. The Hull club that year managed to rearrange their schedule to play almost exclusively road games during that stretch, but there was one game that couldn't be moved, and so it wound up being played at Earl Armstrong Arena in Gloucester.

I haven't been to this rink, but it'll give me another new target to visit the next time I'm in the Ottawa area.
